Welcome to the home of Mackim Border Collies.
My name is Colleen Finch & I would like to introduce you to my family. I have three daughters, a son & my beautiful border collies, Mackenzie (Mac) and Matilda (Tilly) & the newest member, "Sketch". I will share with you the art work they have inspired.
We live in the Wollondilly Shire on the outskirts of Sydney.
I have shared my life and loved border collies for the past 8 years, talked into buying a "dog" by my daughter who manipulated me into the idea.
Kim found every photo of cute border collie puppies that she could & pinned them around the house. I found border collies looking at me where ever I went, my work shop was the favourite spot right in front of my desk, even the toilet where the audience was captive. She stuck them on the fridge, on the frozen food & in my drawers. I finally conceded & we started looking for a reputable breeder & all the information that we would need.
We met Margaret Rockey of Dalheath Border Collies and our first little girl joined our family. Margaret had told me, one is not enough you will get another one. She was right we had our first litter & kept Matilda, who is actually mine, yes the one who did not want a dog!!!
Mac gave us two beautiful litters & Tilly has just had her first.
We are often asked by people if they need a lot of space to run, well they do love to run and chase, but if I am in the workshop that is where they are, if I am in the family room they are there & if they are out side they are near me through the closest window, keeping an eye at me at all times, when I take them to the feild they have to be encouraged to run, or they will just sit by me. They are very loving and extremely loyal, gentle and intelligent they will give you unconditional love for the whole of their lives.
It is this soft love that inspires my border collie art.
I have been a painter & crafter for all of my life, taught mostly by my mother while she kept me out from under my brothers' feet, (mind you I also learned to tune a car under their feet!).
I have always enjoyed my craft & hope that I can now share it with you.
